The Thames Valley Group of Advanced Motorists (group 2061) is one of more than two hundred local organisations affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). The Group is based in Maidenhead and covers the area shown here.

We are a group of car drivers who are dedicated to the advancement of Road Safety by improving the driving standards of ourselves and others to that required by the IAM. Our objective is to improve the quality and quantity of better drivers on our overcrowded road system.

The Thames Valley group was formed in June 1978 and now has in excess of 360 members from all walks of life and ages ranging from 18 to 80. Meetings are held at Holyport, to the south of Maidenhead and close to Junction 8 on the M4.

A404(M) Closures

Overnight closures are planned for 26-27, 10-11 July, 17-18 July, 24-25 July and 31 July-1 August   to facilitate the demolition of the bridge over the Great Western main line between Junctions 9a and 9b.

A404(M) Kimbers Lane Footbridge Replacement

The deck of the footbridge is to be replaced following collision damage to the central support. This will involve traffic management between Junction 9a and M4 Junctions 8/9. The main work is scheduled to start on Monday 21st June for about 13 weeks.
